Indigenous Engagement

Indigenous Engagement

At Allied Pumps we acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of this land and the places in which we live and work. We are committed to engaging with Aboriginal stakeholders in Australia and have established key partnerships to develop relationships with Aboriginal people in the communities in which we operate.

Through our Indigenous and Social Inclusion Strategy, we are committed to supporting people’s aspirations and those experiencing disadvantage with access to employment, training and business opportunities.

Our Commitment to Indigenous and Social Inclusion

  • We commit to respecting and acknowledging the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to maintain their culture, identity, customs and traditional ownership of the lands where we work and operate.
  • We are dedicated to ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people feel welcome in our businesses as employees, customers, suppliers and visitors.
  • We seek to enable Indigenous businesses and social enterprises to subcontract at our projects.
  • We work with clients who engage in meaningful, open and honest consultation and ensure conduct is respectful and culturally sensitive.
  • We seek to contribute to the long-term economic empowerment, social development and cultural well-being through engaging with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Featured Partnerships

Newman Women’s Shelter

Newman Women’s Sheter works in the Pilbara region of WA to provide safe refuge for women and children affected by family and domestic violence and homelessness as a consequence of family and domestic violence.

They support women and their families to break the cycle of family and domestic violence and associated homelessness through holistic support, empowerment and motivation to rebuild their lives.

Allied Pumps has established an ongoing partnership with RRT to provide assistance to the Newman Women’s Shelter. This ensures that vulnerable women in the community have access to basic necessities such as shelter and food.

Marawar Building Services and Sista Girl Sign & Print

Aboriginal art on water storage tanks

Marawar Building Services is an Aboriginal-owned enterprise that is a part of the M/Group and have become a state-wide force in the commercial, residential and civil construction and maintenance industry. Their mission is to transform the industry and the lives, prospects and potential of Aboriginal people and communities throughout WA.

Allied Pumps partnered with Marawar Building Services who commissioned artwork created by five traditional local Indigenous artists – Lyn Knapp, Michael Cummings, Tameka Cummings, Kathleen Toomath and Margaret Millerto. The artwork was printed and applied to our circular metal tanks by Sista Girl Sign & Print.

The decorated tanks now serve a dual purpose as fire water storage as well as a public art installation.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan

Allied Pumps is committed to fostering a more inclusive and respectful workplace through our upcoming Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

We are actively working on this plan to strengthen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, promote cultural awareness, and create meaningful opportunities for engagement.

Stay tuned for more details on our RAP as we strive to make a positive impact and advance reconciliation in our organisation and beyond.
