An Introduction to Our ‘Handy Guide to Compliance’ Booklet

July 19 2017

Safety standards exist for a reason, which is why meeting the necessary compliances is so important. Failure to ensure that your fire pumps and tank equipment are up to standard can result in more than just a slap on the wrist. Ultimately, it can cost lives. With so many different rules and regulations out there, we’ve put together a ‘Handy Guide to Fire, Pump, and Tank Compliance’ to help you understand what the risks are and what you need to do in order to meet Australian standards of compliance.

WHAT IS THE ‘HANDY GUIDE TO BASIC FIRE, PUMP & TANK COMPLIANCE’?

The Handy Guide is a small booklet that we have put together to assist industry specialists in understanding their compliance requirements in regards to fire, pump and water storage tanks. It highlights some key areas that should be looked into in order to achieve basic compliance and some common problems people working in the industry might encounter.

How is it relevant to me?

If you are an engineer, manufacturer, building or business owner or authority, this booklet can provide valuable information to help you ensure your fire, pump and tanks are up to Australian standards. It can be exhausting to sift through all the information available on compliance requirements and understand how it pertains to you. This guide puts all the basics together in one place to help give you an overall understanding of what is required, which you can then build on depending on your business or industry’s specific needs.

What does it cover?

The Handy Guide to Fire, Pump and Tank Compliance is by no means an exhaustive guide or intended to be a final determination on standards implementation. However, it does cover real life practical examples of non-compliance compared against compliant systems and outlines the potential risks you may face . A few areas covered by the guide include;

  • Heat shielding, wiring, pipework paint and sub-standard assembly
  • Non-compliant pressure switch bleed, tags on valves and padlocks and support for pipework
  • Test manifold, low flow jacking pump and airlock on suction line
  • Duty selection off the end of the curve, undersized electric motors and undersized diesel
  • Engine, pipe manifold sizing, mall gate valves on suction line and sheet wall material thickness
  • Ladder, hatch and platform, tanks too as 2419 supplied with hook on 45 ladder and tank corrosion control.
