Allied Pumps and SPEL recently hosted the Stormwater Industry innovation forum breakfast and fuel industry networking morning tea at the Parmelia Hilton hotel specifically arranged for councils, consultants and developers.
Andy Reece Vice President of AMEC Foster Wheeler in Nashville USA, our keynote speaker, has over has over 30 years experience in a wide variety of stormwater management, water resources, hydraulic and hydrologic engineering research and management roles. He also has co-authored an authoritative and best-selling book, Municipal Storm Water Management.
Andy shared his knowledge of the history of how local government stormwater utilities came about in the USA, and also lessons learnt setting up more than 20 stormwater utilities for local governments in the USA.
The intent of these Stormwater Industry Innovation Breakfast event was to “start a conversation” in the industry specifically focused on finding and implementing sustainable funding mechanisms for our stormwater quantity and quality infrastructure. A big thanks to Andy for who facilitating the conversation which highlighted a passion in the industry that will be sure to gain momentum in the future.
The Fuel Innovation session was led by Elisha Radwanowski, Executive Manager, Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association (ACAPMA) who provided an overview of the NPCRS system and how it is benefiting industry. Elisha’s talk provided detailed and informative fuel industry insights and highlighted the great work ACAPMA to ensure national compliance on site for all.
Other notable guest speakers included Deepak Shakya of Department of Water who shared his thoughts and development of the UNDO tool and Javier G Flores Nakashima of SPEL Environmental discussed the intricacies of fibreglass manufacturing.
The event was engaging, informative and well received by those attending which included a variety of local government officials, WA water regulators, business owners and industry leaders across the state.
