Used in conjunction with a coalescing plate separator, the polishing filter removes emulsified and solubilised oils & fuels from water.Â
The hydrophobic filter media allows clean water to pass through without affecting the filter. When hydrocarbon-contaminated water reaches the media, the oil or fuel becomes chemically and permanently bonded to the filter. This allows the system to process clean stormwater or bilge water without unnecessarily shortening filter life.
Allied Pumps’ polishing filter systems can capture free oil, emulsified oil, and water-soluble oils & fuels from water.
The system is designed to work in conjunction with a coalescing plate separator to achieve optimum treated-water quality. At Allied Pumps, we supply both coalescing plate separators and polishing filter systems that seamlessly integrate with each other.
The media rejects clean water but activates when hydrocarbons contact the filter. The oil or fuel then becomes chemically and permanently bonded to the media. Overall, the filter material can absorb up to 50 times its own weight.
Clean water passes through the hydrophobic media without activating it, so clean stormwater or bilge water does not unnecessarily reduce the filter’s life.
Allied Pumps’ fuel polishing systems are available with capacities of 1,500, 3,000, 6,000, and 9,000 litres per hour. Larger sizes are available on request.
