Water mist technology offers high fire-fighting efficiency with significantly reduced water consumption compared to traditional sprinkler systems.Â
When a fire is detected, fine water droplets (typically 50–100 microns) are discharged through specialised nozzles. These droplets reduce smoke and airborne particles, cool the surrounding environment, help interrupt combustion conditions, and absorb heat efficiently.
This makes Pyromist fire sprinkler system ideal for applications where water damage, space constraints, or environmental considerations are key factors.
The Craft Street project involved 8 adjoining lots which required fire protection. To solve this problem, two (2) tanks measuring 5.12 m in diameter by 9.20 m high were assembled onsite and situated next to a fire pumpset in its own custom built enclosure. By collaborating, the owners of the 8 lots were able to share the costs and find a collective solution that worked for them. The short lead time was met and we were able to meet the client expectations in the provided timeframe.
The Cockburn Central Police Station required several tank and pump solutions. Initially a galvanised regular tank was recommended. However, there were design issues with the concrete slab. The station requested an in-situ concrete tank liner. The design was changed to meet this need. Allied Pumps was able to provide a turnkey solution for our client on this project, saving the client from having to engage the services of several different sub-contractors to work on various aspects of the tank installation. This enable the client to place a single order with us for all the work on the tank and supply of the pumping systems, enabling him to focus on other aspects of the project. The final project consisted of a panel tank, circulating pump pack, hot water circulator, fire pump and tank liner pack. The result was a seamless integration between the pumps and the tanks, and reliable fire protection has been the overall outcome.
Allied Pumps creates insulated circular steel panel liner tank for the Karratha Health Campus to meet clients cold water requirements. We were able to meet the client’s stringent requirements to produce a cost effective, potable water tank that could withstand the extreme weather conditions. Rising to the challenge, this project was Allied Pumps first insulated circular steel panel liner tank complete with a cold water circulating program.
Allied Pumps recently provided 2 Circular Colour Finished Steel Water Storage Tanks to a client near the edge of the water at the Kwinana Bulk Jetty. This area of Cockburn Sound is of significant economic and social importance as it facilitates trade to Western Australia and the nation. It is also subjected to very high winds (almost cyclonic during bad weather events) so special design considerations had to be incorporated into the tank design and construction. The tanks were constructed to 3mm in thickness all over (instead of the normal 3mm on the bottom strake and 1.95mm on the others). The tanks were fitted with harness points on the roof and installed with 2 SWAH doors per tank (normally one). The tanks were also powder coated in colorbond Off White finish to fit in with the surroundings.
A below water table mine operation in the Shire of East Pilbara sustains the Newman Hub mining operations at a Western Australian iron ore mine site. The client needed an in-pit dewatering solution to discharge excess groundwater for a new section of the pit. The solution was required within eight weeks. A bore system using equipment that would suit their requirements was designed. We provided Kwikbore bore head works systems which were trailer-mounted. This would minimise dewatering and pumping downtime during removal of the existing equipment from the mining pit during blasting and installed the head works once the blasting was completed. Overall, six mobile head works systems were used, each featuring a unique plug and play design with remote telemetry system for integration with the site SCADA system. Our experienced technicians carried out onsite commissioning to effectively integrate the pumping systems into the BHP site-wide SCADA system. The project was delivered on time and on budget and operates to the specification set out in the scope of works.
Located on the Burswood Peninsula, the Optus Stadium is part of a large redevelopment that has become a draw card to thousands of people. However, as with all new developments there was a significant change to the existing landscape. Part of the Optus Stadium is bounded by the Swan River and river traffic, some of the retaining walls and steel piles on the water’s edge which could be seen from the water and needed to be addressed which could not be achieved using a land based planting scheme or additional construction. Allied Pumps created an environmentally sound and sustainable floating treatment wetland that can be configured in rafts of endless configurations. They can fit any existing space or water body shape and can operate in fluctuating water levels which was an essential requirement for this project. While the floating treatment wetlands are primarily a water treatment tool, they have the added bonus of being visually appealing with the use of wetland sedges, rushes and grasses providing fast and easy to install beautification options.
Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison is an Australian prison located in Boulder, Western Australia, and opened in 1980. An upgrade to the fire pump skid and commissioning was necessary in 2014. The primary challenge was carrying out both tasks at the same time including upgrading and commissioning. We worked hard to balance both tasks resulting in a successful delivery of the project.
Formed in 1905 to obtain, treat and distribute water supplies, the Bunbury Water Board has served the people of Bunbury for over 100 years. The city’s early settlers knew of water stored naturally underground and tried to use it to replace the Collie River and the Preston River, which were the only sources of water for drinking in those days. We supplied the first variable speed system to the water authority. It’s still being used today.
Our client required new potable water and fire water storage tanks to be manufactured onsite. The location is particularly close to the harbour shoreline and situated in the category 5 cyclone region, which means winds can be in excess of 280 km per hr. This impacted every facet of design. We had extensive contact with suppliers to find alternative products that could withstand the aggressive environmental location. The process included a search for tank wall, nuts, and bolts all the way through to paints and roofing materials. We successfully installed all the equipment on schedule, within a 3 week period with no major disruptions or safety incidents. The tank construction was guaranteed for 25 years. The client was very satisfied with the end solution.
The Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia required a water supply system. Because of its location, this was a very unique project. The spec required the materials to be stainless steel and fibreglass to resist corrosion. The site also needed a controller to monitor and operate water supply valves to fill tanks for use at the building. The three water supplies were the result of rainwater runoff from the roof, bore pumps and mains piping. To ensure that the specs were met, the valves were programmed to operate depending on the supply availability. The competing requirements of this project as well as working in a foreign environment created a number of challenges. We were able to rise to the challenge, through our strong organisational skills and execution of work.
A water mist fire sprinkler system uses very fine water droplets to absorb heat, reduce smoke and airborne particles, and help interrupt combustion conditions. This approach can provide effective fire suppression with reduced water consumption compared to traditional sprinkler systems.
Pyromist fire sprinkler systems can be used across applications such as battery energy storage systems, data centres, electrical rooms, industrial & process equipment, commercial and heritage buildings, and food & beverage processing areas.
Yes, eater mist systems are designed to use significantly less water than conventional sprinkler systems, making them suitable for projects where water damage or space constraints are key factors.
System configuration, including nozzle spacing, pipework layout, and flow and pressure requirements, is determined by project fire engineers and design consultants based on the specific site and application requirements.
Yes, water mist systems like the Pyromist are suitable for sensitive environments such as data centres, electrical rooms, and equipment areas where reduced water exposure is important.
